During a period of 23 years Southland has played in 84 Division I-AA playoff games winning 42 contests.
Southland College Athletic Conference operates in the south central part of the country for the states of Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. The conference sponsors 17 sports, nine for women and eight for men.
The conference has claimed five national championships through former members; Arkansas State (1970, UPI) and Louisiana Tech (1972, National Football Foundation). Louisiana Tech also won the first-ever NCAA-sanctioned national title in 1973
