• Southland’s football background has been very successful and it reflects its triumphs by providing many football players to the professional league.
  


• For over a period of  approximately 26 years, the Southland teams have participated in 89 Division I playoff games
  


• The currently active conference member – McNeese State - has had a total of 13 participations in national playoffs.
  


• The Southland conference has captured a total of five national championships (1970, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1987)
