The University of Louisiana at Monroe was first created in 1931 as a coeducational, public university in Monroe.
Louisiana-Monroe sports teams participate in NCAA Division I (I-A for football). In 2001 ULM became a football-only member of the Sun Belt Conference. On July 1st, 2006 the school became a member for all sports after being a Southland conference member.
In 2005 the conference championship was shared between ULM and Arkansas State University as well as the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. |
