Based in Lorman, Mississippi, the Alcorn State Braves are members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Braves joined SWAC in 1962 and plays their home games at the Jack Spinks Stadium, which has a capacity of 22,500 seats.
Since their existence at the SWAC, the Braves have won four titles during the 1968, 1969, 1970 and 1984 seasons. One of the most famous head coaches of the Braves was Marino H. Casem, who stayed with Alcorn for 22 years, accumulating a record of 132-65-8.
Last season 2008, the Alcorn State Braves finished with an overall record of 2-10 and took fourth place in the East Division of SWAC with a conference record of 1-6. Sadly, the Braves football team lost the last five games of the season.
