Alcorn State University was first founded in 1871 as a state-support for the higher education of the black community.
Alcorn is composed of different schools among which we can mention: School of Agriculture, Research, Extension and Applied Sciences, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Graduate Studies, School of Business, School of Education and Psychology, School of Nursing and College for Excellence.
