Important Facts
- The following schools were active members of the SWAC in the early beginnings, but they are no longer within the Division I: Bishop College, Texas College, Paul Quinn College and Wiley College.
- The SWAC conference and the Ivy League are the only two conferences in Division I that do not participate in the postseason FCS football tournament. Instead, the SWAC separates its schools in two divisions and plays a conference championship game.
- The current conference commissioner is Duer Sharp.
