ASU or Alabama State University was first opened in 1867 and it was known as the Normal School for Colored Students.
Some of its original founders were: Thomas Speed, Nicholas Dale, Joey P. Pinch, James Childs, Nathan Levert, David Harris, Thomas Lee, John Freeman, and Alexander H. Curtis.
Alabama State University is part of the NCAA Division I-AA in the SWA Conference as of 1982 when it first joined it. |
