Based in Jackson, Mississippi, the Jackson State Tigers are members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA since 1958. The Jackson State football team has been one of the most successful teams in SWAC history, having a total of 16 titles under their belts. In all their years at the SWAC, the Tigers have won and shared 16 SWAC titles, including their last one in 2007. During the season 2008, the Tigers won the SWAC East championship and were very close to winning their 17th conference title; however they couldn’t quite reach their goal since they were defeated by the West Division champions Grambling 41-9.
Last season 2008, the Jackson State football team had an incredible season, finishing with an overall record of 7-5 and taking first in the East Division of the SWAC with a conference record of 6-1.
