Based in Prairie View, Texas, the Prairie View A&M Panthers are members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference in the NCAA Division I-AA. The Panthers joined SWAC in 1920 and plays their home games at Reliant Stadium.
The team lost 80 consecutive games between 1989 and 1998. However in 2007, they finally earned their first winning season since 1976 with a 30-27 victory over the powerful team of Jackson State University in hands of Coach Henry Frazier, III.
With a 9-1 overall record for the 2008 season, the Tigers took second place in the West Division SWAC with a conference play of 6-1, winning the last five games of the season.
