The University of Central Florida has an extend variety of intercollegiate athletics teams known as the UCF Knights.
The football program began in 1979 when Don Jonas; a former professional player offered himself as a volunteer coach for the team. Three years later the team moved to Division II and in 1990 they entered the I-AA division.
UCF move to Division I was possible until 1996, therefore it is considered as a young Division I-A team. In 2005, UCF join the Conference USA after a great 2004 season winning their first conference game - East Division. |
