Conference USA History
The USA conference which is also known as C-USA was created in 1995 due to the merger between the Metro and Great Midwest conferences and it is part of the NCAA Division I in all sports.
The region which the USA conference covers includes the following states: Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia. For the sport of men’s soccer includes also the state of Kentucky and South Carolina and for the women’s Colorado College.
Current USA members include the following schools: University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Central Florida, East Carolina University, University of Houston, Marshall University, University of Memphis, Rice University, Southern Methodist University, The University of Southern Mississippi, University of Texas at El Paso, Tulane University, and University of Tulsa.
In football the C-USA consists of two divisions: East and West. There is a tradition within the conference to send various teams throughout the country to participate in different bowl games among which we can mention: Liberty Bowl, GMAC Bowl, Papajohns.com Bowl, Armed Forces Bowl, New Orleans Bowl, Hawaii Bowl, and Texas Bowl.
USA Conference headquarters are located in Irving, Texas and field 19 different sports (10 for men and 9 for women).
