Sam Brandon

Brandon has been part of the Denver Broncos for four years and plays safety. He was born in 1979 in Toledo, Ohio. In his early beginnings he played for the UNLV. While at UNLV as a wide receiver before switching to free safety as a junior, earning All-Mountain West Conference honors during each of his two seasons on defense.

In 2002 he was selected by the Broncos in the fourth round (131st overall) in the NFL Draft. That same year he r anked third among all Broncos players with 37 special-teams tackles. In 2003 he played a key role in Denver’s defense securing the No. 4 starting 10 games at free safety and posting 57 tackles (44 solo), one interception and six pass breakups.

During his fifth season with the Broncos in 2006 Brandon contributed 15 tackles (9 solo), a forced fumble and a pass defensed before a right knee injury forced him to be placed on injured reserve by early November and after eight games (0 starts).

He saw extended action on defense at Pit. (11/5) when Nick Ferguson left the game in the first half. Against the Steelers, Brandon made three solo tackles and caused a fumble that was recovered by Darrent Williams at Denver’s 6-yard line. Unfortunately, Brandon was forced to leave the game with a knee injury in the fourth quarter situation that gave his season an premature ending.
