The Seahawks’ history dates back to 1972 when a group of entrepreneurs began the negotiations to create an NFL franchise in the area.

In March 1976 the team played its first professional game; the group was part of the AFC for more than two decades until 2002 when they became part of the NFC.

The Seahawks’ latest seasons have been very successful as they finished first in the regular season standings for four consecutive years and have been to one Super Bowl appearance in 2005  where they lost to the Steelers  21-10.

The team’s first titles came in 1988 when they won their first Division Championship in total the Hawks have won 6 titles and one conference championship in 2005 (NFC).

Some of the current  Seahawks’ players listed in the 2008 roster are: linebakers Will Herring, Lofa Tatupu, and Wesley Mallard. Defensive linemen Jason Babin, Chris Cooper, and Darryl Tapp. Wide Receivers Nate Burleson, Joel Filani and Courtney Taylor.

Mike Holmgren is the current Head Coach of the Seahawks since 1999; he currently holds a team record of 82 wins, 62 loses, no ties and a winnings percentage of .569.
