When the Vikings drafted Jackson in the second round out of Alabama State, the plan was to brush him in a backup role the first few years and work out some of the hooks integral with being a gifted, but green quarterback from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Jackson went 8-4 last season, but he was the beneficiary of the league’s top-rated rushing attack.
Minnesota’s passing game ranked 28th––which matched the rank of Jackson’s quarterback rating.
Minnesota just needs Jackson to be effective enough to prevent opponents from routinely stuffing eight or nine men in the box.
