John Juanda

Johnson Juanda was born on July 8, 1971 in Indonesia. Juanda is an American professional poker player based in Marina del Rey, California.
John Juanda arrived in the U.S. in 1990, and he earned an MBA from Seattle University.

John Juanda was a high school track star for the 200 meter sprints to 5000 meter races. Juanda had a stint as a door to door salesman selling bibles. Juanda has expressed an interest in medicine and has said if poker wasn't his career this would be.

Johnson Juanda was the 2002 tournament Champion of the Year, winning 3 World Series of Poker titles, and a World Poker Open Championship title. Juanda is regarded as one of the best all-around poker players on the tournament circuit.

In January 2006, Juanda defeated a field including Tony "The Lizard" Bloom, Tony G and Phil Ivey, Jeff "The Iceman" Lisandro, Mike Sexton, and Barry Greenstein to win the $732,901 first prize in the Crown Australian Poker Championship AUD 100,000 speed poker event.

As of 2006, Juanda’s total live tournament winnings exceed $6,300,000.
