Sam Farha
Ihsan "Sam" Farha was born in Beirut in 1959. He studied at the University of Kansas and graduated with a degree in Business Administration.
Farha first played a game of poker a year after moving to Houston and won several thousand dollars. Then in 1990 he quit his job to play poker full time.
Farha's biggest matchup was against Chris Moneymaker in the 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP). Although, Moneymaker won, Farha won $1.3 million for his second place finish. PokerStars organized a rematch between Farha and Moneymaker a few months later, this time Farha won.
Farha is working on a book; tentatively titled Luck is Not Enough, a reality TV poker series, and a video game. Additionally, he is a spokesman for Harra’s Casino in Las Vegas.
His total live tournament winnings exceed $1,600,000 in tournament poker.
