Vélez Sársfield
The club was founded on January 1st 1910, with the name of Club Atlético Argentinos de Vélez Sársfield which belongs to the Republica de Argentina. Their home is the Estadio Jose Amalfitani located in the Liniers neighborhood and their nickname is “El Fortin”
During their rookie season they joined to different associations, starting playing at the first division in 1919, when the Asociación Amateurs de Football was created, where the team became the runner-up on the maximum category. In March 13, 1923, Jose Amalfitani became the president.
In 1931 the team got in the professional field when they were one of the teams that organized the Liga Argentina de Football.
In 1968 they won their first national championship, when Velez had 39 goals over the River Plate. In the final of 1979 they were first on the group A and had to face River Plate winning 1-0, but losing as visitors getting eliminated in penalty shots.
