• The Jupiler League currently has 18 clubs, the defending champion is R. Standard de Liège, which is the fourth club with more titles (9). Following them are Union Saint-Gilloise (11), then Club Brugge KV with 13 and the title leader is RSC Anderlecht which ownes 29.

• The championship starts in August and finishes during next May, as most of the soccer European tournaments it is played under a two-legs format.

• It is schedule to be played in 34 match-days, with 17 games as visit and 17 games at home for every team.

• The competition uses the relegation and promotion format since early years. The relegation format used in last season was of the most used in the sport, the two lowest placed teams were sent to second division EXQI League. While the teams promoted to Jupiler League were the champion of the EXQI League and the winner of the playoffs, which were played between the next four (2, 3, 4, 5) places in the table.

• From the 2008/09 season on the format will be change in order to decrease the number of teams to 16. The bottom two (17, 18) on the first division will be automatically relegated, but the playoffs will now be played between the 15 and 16 positions from Jupiler and other two clubs from EXQI and only the winner of this 'Final Four' will have the right to stay in Jupiler League.

• Jupiler League promotes the clubs on the top positions to the UEFA competitions. The champion qualifies to the Champions League's Group Stage; the second place goes to the Third Qualifying Round; and the team on third spot plays in the First Round of the UEFA Cup. Since the league is going to make some changes on their structure, this qualifications to the European tournaments might get some variations.

• For 2001/02 campaign the Belgian FA (Football Association) introduced a regulation license system in the sport that has been active since then. The objective of the license is to regulate the entrance of new teams to the two highest football league divisions. If the license can't be bestow to a team, this one is supposed to be immediately transfered to Third Division, but there's been some exceptions to this rule.
