Internacional (RS)
On Monday of April 4, 1909, brothers Henrique and José Poppe Leão, and Luiz Madeira Poppe reunited in basement and founded Sport Club Internacional.
Their stadium is the Gigante da Beira-Rio, which use to have a capacity of 90,000, but due to modern FIFA regulations it now holds 56,000 spectators. Internacional's greatest rival is Grêmio, and every match between the two sides is a highly fierce and mythic derby of Brazilian football, called a "Gre-Nal".
Internacional was the first club of Rio Grande do Sul to win the Brazilian Championship back in 1975 and in 1979, Internacional became the first and only club ever to win the Brazilian Championship undefeated in their campaign.
Internacional has one of the best and complete infrastructures for young talented soccer players in Brazil and have exceeded in youth competitions such as the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior and the Campeonato Brasileiro Sub-20. Because it has invested so much in youth teams during its 95 years, some of the greatest soccer players in the world started in Sport Club Internacional.
On September 2006, Internacional ranked as the world's third best football team, according to IFFHS Club World Ranking.
