Paraná Clube, or Tricolor, was founded on December 19, 1989 after the merge of Esporte Clube Pinheiros and Colorado Esporte Clube, in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. Their uniform consists of blue/red shirts, white shorts and white socks.
The club's first manager was Rubens Minelli, and Emerson de Andrade was elected as the director of football.
Paraná Clube has two stadiums:
- Estádio Durival Britto e Silva (Vila Capanema): capacity 18,534 spectators.
- Estádio Erton Coelho de Queiroz (Vila Olímpica): capacity 18,500 spectators.
The team also plays at Estádio Pinheirão: capacity 35,000 spectators.
On February 4, 1990 the club played its fist match when Paraná lost to Coritiba 1-0 in the Estádio Couto Pereira. Two years after the club's foundation, Paraná won its first state championship in 1991.
In 1992, the club won the Campeonato Brasileiro Second Division allowing them to dispute the following year's first division. The club spent 8 years without any achievements and in 2000 Paraná beat Associação Desportiva São Caetano and celebrated the title of the Yellow Module of João Havelange Cup. This cup substituted the Campeonato Brasileiro in all levels. In 2003, Paraná Clube and L.A. Sports, a sporting marketing company, started a partnership to help Paraná Clube keep its youth academy and help Paraná Clube sign new players. In 2005, Paraná Clube created an investment fund to replace L.A. Sports, and, because of this, the partnership was not renewed.
