Vitória (BA)
Esporte Clube Vitória, or just Vitória, is from Salvador in Bahia, and was founded on May 13, 1899 by the brothers Artur and Artêmio Valente.
Vitória's home games are played in the club's own stadium, Manoel Barradas, which has a capacity for 46,000 fans. They play in red and black horizontal striped shirts, black shorts and black socks. The stripes have changed in time: they are sometimes vertical, sometimes horizontal, sometimes wide, sometimes narrow.
On May 22, 1901, the club played its first football match, at Campo da Pólvora, against International Sport Club. On September 13, 1903, Vitória beat Paulista settlement São Paulo-Bahia 2-0 and this is considered the club's first professional match and in 1908, Vitória won its first title ever, the Campeonato Baiano.
In 1998, the Vitória S/A, Vitória Sociedade Anônima), was founded to manage the club's professional football businesses and in 2004 Vitória was relegated to the Brazilian Second Division and even worse in 2005 the club was relegated to the Third Division.
In 2006 Vitória was promoted to the Brazilian Second Division and in 2007 Vitória played the Brazilian Second Division and was promoted back to the Brazilian First Division after finishing in 4th place.
