RUUD VAN NISTELROOY
Rutgerus Johannes Martinius "Ruud" van Nistelrooy was born on July 1st 1976 in Oss, North Brabant. Van Nistelrooy started his professional career in 1993 with Dutch second division side FC Den Bosch. During the 1997-1998 campaign he transferred to SC Heerenveen and scored thirteen goals in 31 matches in his lone season with the club. Then after that he signed for PSV Eindhoven the next season for €6.3 million. He scored an impressive 31 goals in 34 matches
In the summer of 2000 he transfered to Manchester United with a £18.5 million contract. However; during a training session he suffered a knee injury. After his absence he joined Manchester United for a total of £19 million, and signed a five-year contract. He was then named the PFA Players' Player of the Year. At the beginning of the 2005–06 season, he finished as the second-highest scorer in the Premiership with 21 goals. Van Nistelrooy signed with La Liga side Real Madrid C.F. on July 14, 2006, departing Manchester United with a total of 150 goals in 200 starts.
His early accomplishments with Real arrived quite soon as he began scoring right away with his team. In 2007 Real Madrid went on to win La Liga title. Van Nistelrooy finished top scorer in his first season with the club with 25 goals besides reaching the longest consecutive scoring streak in La Liga history a record only achieved by Hugo Sanchez. That same year Van Nistelrooy was selected as a nominee for the FIFA World Player of the Year.
Ruud still plays for Real Madrid and the Dutch national team. His contract has been extended until 2010.
