Group H - Saudi Arabia:
Sami Al Jaber
Place of Birth: Saudi Arabia
Date of Birth: December 11th, 1972
Position: Forward
Clubs: Al-Hilal, Wolverhampton Wanderers
Al Jaber was snapped up by Wolves on loan from Al Hilal in September 2000 with a view to a permanent £1.25m move. But, mainly due to injury and international commitments, Al Jaber's appearances in the amber of Wolves were few in his first few months at the club.
Made his debut in a 1-1 draw at Wimbledon in mid-September 2000, but played only four more times before he returned home to Saudi Arabia on compassionate leave just before Christmas, his father having died.
A permanent deal looks unlikely but Wolves are hoping for his come back, ready and refreshed to show the Molineux faithful what he is capable of. But, he never returned to Wolves and Jaber started again with the Al Hilal. Jaber is the first Saudi Arabian star to play at such a high level of football. He was also ranked 33rd in FIFA's World Player of the Year poll in 2000.
