The Scottish League Cup is a football competition open to all Scottish Football League and Scottish Premier League members. Currently, the competition (Scottish FA Cup) is of straight knockout (single elimination) format.
The Celtic Club is the current holder after defeating Dunfermline Athletic 3-0 at Hampden Park on March 19th, 2006.
The teams which played in the SPL for the 2005-2006 season: Aberdeen, Celtic, Dundee United,
Dunfermline Athletic, Falkirk, Heart of Midlothian, Hibernian, Inverness, Caledonian, Thistle, Kilmarnock, Livingston, Motherwell , Rangers.
Livingston was relegated following the end of the 2005-2006 season. For the 2006-07 season; their place will be taken by St Mirren.
