The team was first created in 1997 and it is based in the Sacramento area in California.
The Monarchs’ basketball history includes five different participations in the conference final games as well as an overall record of 207 wins and 173 loses over the past 11 years in the Premier Basketball League.
During the 2007 campaign the Monarchs reached again the Western Conference finals but this time their two-year run as Western Conference champions ended after being defeated by San Antonio Silver Stars.
The WNBA Sacrament Monarchs is the brother team of the NBA team, the Sacramento Kings.
Up to now the team has two retired numbers who are: number 6 Ruthie Gordon and GM Jerry Reynolds.
