This Texan Basketball team was first created in 1997 when the Female league gave its first steps.
The San Antonio Silver Stars team was originally located in Utah and they were known as the Utah Starzz but in 2003 they relocated to the actual place and changed the name. The Silver Stars' brother team is NBA San Antonio Spurs.
Despite their long time in the WNBA League the team has not been able to manage a conference title or championship win. It was only recently during the 2007 Conference Finals that the team reached the first round of the playoffs but lost to Phoenix.
As of 2005 the team has been led by Head Coach Dan Hughes who came part of team replacing interim Shell Dailey. The Silver Stars play its home games in the AT&T Center.
