The Spanish-Catalonian team of AXA FC Barcelona is one of the oldest basketball teams in the ACB. The team was originally founded in the late 1926. The group participated in their first formal competition (Catalonian Basketball Championship) in 1927. Since that time the group an incredible number of Cups among which we can mention: 20 Spanish King Cups, 12 Catalonian League Cups, 14 LIGA ACB Cups, 1 Prince of Asturias Cup and 1 Spanish Super cup. Some of the players who are now part of the team’s hall of fame and whose numbers have been retired are: small forward Juan Antonio San Epifanio #15, center Roberto Duenas # 12 and point guard Nacho Solozabal #7. The team’s current Head Coach is Xavier Pascual who is assisted by Joseph M. Berrocal. |
For the 2007-08 campaign AXA FC Barcelona is in the third position of the ACB standings. Amongst the active players who participated in the season we can mention center Fran Vasquez, small forward Xavier Rabaseda, shooting guard Roger Grimau, power forward David Anderson and shooting guard Gary Neal.
Throughout the team’s history there have been many sponsors but more recently brands such: Nike, Audi, la Caixa and Estrella Damm serve as the current leading sponsors.
