Club Baloncesto Estudiantes team was first created in 1948 as a basketball group located in Madrid, Spain. In less than a decade after the group was formed they were part of one of the first former Spanish Basketball competition during 1955.
Besides the men team; the group is also very strong in the female league being one of the few teams with presence in both areas.
Through their history the Estudiantes group has been able to manage outstanding performances in competitions such as: reaching the semifinals at the Copa del Rey in 2002 and 2005; the Spanish ACB final in 2004 and the classification for the ULEP Euro league 2000-01. |
Estudiantes’ players who have become an important part in the team’s history are: during the 1970s: Miguel Ángel Estrada, Gonzalo Sagi-Vela. The 1980's: Chinch Terry Stotts, David Russell, La Fuente, Alfonso del Corral, Ricky Winslow, Alberto Herreros, Ron Taylor, Randy Meister. The 1990's: Danko Cvjetičanin, Mikhail Mikhailov, Chandler Thompson and more recently in the 2000's: Sergio Rodríguez, Iñaki De Miguel, and Iker Iturbe,
