The Akasvayu Girona team was first founded in the early 1960’s as one of the first Catalonian basketball teams. The team became part of the major Spaniard basketball league as of 1987 when the league opened up several other spots for additional members. Amongst some of Akasvayu’s most famous players we find; Josep Cargol, Dusko Ivanovic, Francesc Solana, Darryl Middleton, Terrell Myers and Xavi Fernàndez. For the 2007-2008 seasons the team is positioned in fifth place in the ACB or Asociacion de Clubs de Baloncesto standings while Head Coach Pedro Martinez Sanchez is the team’s present leader. |
Some of the Akasvayu’s players who are listed in the current roster are: point guard Victor Sada, small forward Tomas Nagys, shooting guard Roman Montañez, centrals Marc Gasol and Darrel Middletown (American) who is one of the few foreign players to be enlisted.
