England Cricket Team

  • The England cricket team operates under the sponsorship of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB)
  • In 1877 England played in the first ever Test match and also the first ever One-Day International in 1971
  • Peter Moores was appointed with the full-time job of coaching the England cricket team, following the resignation of Duncan Fletcher

Important facts

  • England has only ever had 11 people able to score over 300 and four of them have been in the last 20 years
  • In 1880 the first Test played in England, three brothers, E.M., G.F. and W.G. Grace, made their debuts against Australia
  • In 1886-87 England scored just 45 in their first innings at Sydney
  • Geoff Boycott, Allan Lamb and Andy Flintoff have batted on every day of a test match
  • Sydney Barnes is rated as the best bowler of all time for any country according to the LG ICC Best Ever Test Bowling rating
