10th Stage: Pau→ Hautacam, 154km

This tenth stage will be a mountain stage, and will consist of 154 km. It will begin in Pau, which is the tour stage city for the 62nd time. Afterwards it will go over the Col du Tourmalet (17,7 km at 7,5%) before concluding at the top of Hautacam (14,2 km at 7,2%). Hautacam is a mid-altitude resort where the outdoors can be enjoyed the year round. It is a short, forceful stage with the climb of the Tourmalet and the Hautacam as the ending part of the stage. The leading riders must be on top of the action to hold on to their probabilities of winning.
Pau: is an town and community in the Aquitaine area of southwestern France. Pau is a true spot of the Tour de France since 1930. Pau has become a mainstay of the world’s greatest cycling race, thanks both to its geographical location and to its marvelous infrastructures. Pau will hold its 62nd stage in 2008, and only one other city besides Paris has done better.
Hautacam: It is situated in the Hautes-Pyrénées department, in the Midi-Pyrénées region. It is a ski and mid-altitude resort in the Pyrenees where the outdoors can be enjoyed the year round. Hautacam exposes its peaceful ornaments surrounded by spectacular Pyrenean scenery immaculate by constructions. Hautacam first held a Tour de France as a stage town in 1994 and that stage was won by Luc Leblanc that year.
