12th Stage: Lavelanet → Narbonne, 168 km

The twelfh stage will be between Lavelanet and Narbonne, the total kilometers will be 168 km and will be a flat surface route. The city Lavelanet is located in Cathar country at the foot of Montsegur castle and Narbonne for its part was founded in the 5th century B.C. at the top of Montlaurès hill. In this stage the riders who sprint will possibly once more be the show makers. This will be a fast-riding stage with a good chance that riders will compete for the green jersey and the title.
Lavelanet: located in Cathar country at the foot of Montsegur castle, Lavelanet positionates beside the Touyre river, where the three valleys get together, on the outskirts of the counties of Foix and Carcassonne. Lavelanet is situated just one hour to the south of Toulouse and Carcassonne. Lavelanet is a well-preserved natural setting which is completely appropriate for outdoor activities. Lavelanet has lush greenery and is surrounded by pictorial villages. Lavelanet has been stage town of the Tour once in 2002.
Narbonne: is linked to the nearby Canal du Midi and the Aude River by the Canal de la Robine, which runs through the centre of town. Narbonne is a commune in southwestern France in the Languedoc-Roussillon area. It lies 849 km from Paris in the Aude department. Once a prosperous port, it is now located about 15 km from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. It is marginally the largest commune in the Aude and has 53,000 inhabitants. Narbonne has been 7 times stage host, the first one was in 1935 and the last one was in 2003 as a start town.
