Tour de France 2008 - Stages Profiles
2nd Stage : Auray → Saint-Brieuc, 165km

The stage is flat and consists of 165km. Auray, where the stage begins, is one of the brand new 10 hosting cities of the Tour de France 2008. Although the stage is considered flat the track has some hill climbing, incluiding the 3rd category, Mûr-de-Bretagne(1,6 km climb). Some of the places the cyclists will be passing through are: Landaul, Pluvigner, Camors, Baud, Pont-Augan, Bubry, Melrand, Boderel, Guern, Le Sourn, Pontivy, Neulliac and Saint-Jean in the Côtes-d’Armor, then will get to Saint-Brieuc, which will be the final point.
Auray: formed by 28 towns, it lies at the heart of one of the smallest regions on the province of Brittany (630 km²). This is the first time the town of 80,000 inhabitants will have the honor to be hosting one of the stages of Le Tour de France. Aury has a wonderful history, and its architecture shows it at first sight; it is also sorrounded by nature, which will give splendid views to Le Grand Boucle followers and competitors.
Saint Brieuc: located in Côtes-d'Armor, at the Bretagne region, it holds a population of 47,000 residents. It has hosted stages of the Tour in 10 occasions, in 1938 for the first time and 2004 the last. It has been categorized a natural reserve, since it has a bay with the fifth largest tides in the world.
