20th Stage: Cèrilly → Saint-Amand-Montrond, 53 km (ITT)
Saturday 26 July, 2008
This second and last individual time trial is a bit longer than the first one with 53 kilometers from Cérilly (ville étape inédite) to Saint-Amand-Montrond. This final individual time trial along with rolling roads in the Allier and the Cher will fine-tune the individual and team overall positions. A last battle between the top riders could still take place here.
Cérilly: is a commune in the Allier department in central France and it has a total of 1568 inhabitants. Cerilly has a nearby Tronçais forest (10,000 hectares), which has turned the city to a wood industry. This is the first time that Cerilly participates has a stage host town for the Tour de France.
Saint-Amand-Montrond: it was built in the basin of the eastern banks of the Cher River which separates it from the commune of Orval. The two towns are connected by two bridges. The city is the capital of Boischaut, known for its woods and pasture along with raising cattle. In this 2008 Tour de France the city will be for second time a town stage. The first time was in 2001 and was won by Armstrong.
