Étampes, the tenth and final ville étape inédite of this Tour de France 2008 will be the beginning of the last stage. It is frequently a silence and cold stage surroundings and the finish will be of course in Paris at the Champs Élysées. It will be a mountainous course to Paris then through the Chevreuse Valley before the traditional loop on the Champs-Elysées, la Place de la Concorde and the rue de Rivoli. On one more occasion, the strong men among the riders will battle it out for this prestigious stage win.
Étampes: is a city in the metropolitan area of Paris, France. It is located 48.1 km south-southwest from the center of Paris. Étampes, together with the neighbor’s towns of Morigny-Champigny and Brières-les-Scellés, form a population area of 26,604 inhabitants. Étampes also lies on the river Chalouette, a tributary of the Juine, which borders the eastern outskirts of the serene town. Etampes will participate for first time as a town stage in the 2008 Tour de France.
Paris Champs-Élysées: is the capital of France and it is the final stage of the Tour. The capital of France has 75 departments and 20 districts with a total 9,645.000 inhabitants. Paris is the most beautiful location possible, place with monuments and sites of unmatched beauty. Paris Champs-Élysées has been the ultimate stage of the Tour de France since 1903 and that first one was won by Garin. The last time this city was the ultimate stage of the Tour de France was in 2006.
