6th Stage: Aigurande Super-Besse, 195,5 km

The city of Aigurande is the second ville étape inédite of this Tour de France 2008 and it's additionally the starting city of the first hilly stage. This route will take the riders above the Col de la Croix-Morand (8 km at 5,1%) prior to the end of the stage at the top of Super-Besse (11 km at 4,7%) in the Massif Central. Transienting of the Massif Central will give a clearer viewpoint of the race and look for rider positions. In this stage, the best riders will be capable to measure up. The group will come across with some difficulties before they get to the finish line at Super-Besse. This stage will show which riders are in the best shape.

Aigurande: is a commune in the Indre department in central France and has a population 1668.

Super-Besse: located approximately 50km from Clermont-Ferrand, it is at an altitude of 1350 m on the slopes of Puy de Sancy, Puy de la Perdrix and Puy Ferrand. Aigurande lies between the departments of Indre and Creuse, between Berry and Marche. With a population of 1,715, Aigurande is part of the Marche Berrichonne metropolitan area and the La Châtre en Berry region.
