Bury Football Club
Brief History
The club was formed in the city of Bristol in September 1883. In the beginning the club went by the name Black Arabs F.C. On February 1899 the name was officially changed to Bristol Rovers.
After the 1920-21 season the team remained in the third division for over 30 years, before winning the league, and promotion during the 1952-53 season.
The team has been relegated four times in their history and the only major cup competition won by Bristol Rovers is the 1972 Watney Cup.

- Recently Bury became the first football club to score a thousand goals in the top four tiers of the English football league.
- The team’s home, Gigg Lane, is also home to F.C. United of Manchester who rent the ground from Bury F.C.
- Recently, the club has had great success with youth development, with players such as Colin Kazim-Richards, David Nugent and Simon Whaley moving onto Premiership and Championship clubs.
