Monaco

The AS Monaco FC was created in 1924 in Monaco but plays in the French Ligue because Monaco is very small to hold an intern professional championship. The team bounced between Ligue 2 to Ligue 1 in their early years but has remained in Ligue 1 since 1960, becoming one of the most successful teams in France. Over the years AS Monaco has added great achievements to their history; they have won 5 French Cups, 7 Ligue 1 titles and 1 League Cup.

From season 2002-03 through 2004-05, the club has been located between the third and second place of the table. One of the biggest win of the club was against Girondins de Bordeaux with a score of 9-0 at home during the season 1985-86. Monaco has played 52 seasons at Ligue 1 and just 9 in Ligue 2.

The club greatest achievement in Europe was during the UEFA Champions League in 2004, when Monaco beat some successful teams like Real Madrid and Chelsea and reached the final, but they were defeated by F.C Porto with a score of 3-0.

Season 2007-08 was not the best for “Les Rouge et Blanc” since they ended in 12th place of the league with 47 points and a record of 13 wins, 17 loses and 8 draws.
