Nancy

The AS Nancy-Lorraine club was originally founded in 1967. Nancy-Lorraine team was the replacement of the FC Nancy that was disintegrated in 1965. The club latest promotion to Ligue 1 was in 2005.

Some of the accomplishments obtained by Nancy-Lorraine throughout its existence are 4 Ligue 2 championship titles, 1 French Cup and one League Cup. Nancy has been 17 seasons in Ligue 2 and 22 in Ligue 1, where it has a record of 316 wins, 358 loses and 249 draws for a total of 923 games. One of the greatest players of all-times Michel Platini played for the team from 1973 to 1979.

For season 2007-08, the club finished with a very respectable fourth place in the table, the best position the team has reached for the second time in their history, the first one being in season 1976-77, during Platini’s era. This place earned them a spot for the UEFA Cup 2008-09, where the team passed the first round but fell in the group phase.
