Paris Saint-Germain

The original club was funded in 1904, but in the 1970s it was reorganized and by 1974 the team achieved the promotion to the Ligue 1 and has remained in the top football division since then.

Paris Saint-Germain has been very successful through the years since its inception in Ligue 1, winning 7 French Cups, 3 League Cups, 2 Ligue 1 championships, 1 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and 1 UEFA Intertoto Cup among others. Their days of success began in the chairman Francis Borelli’s era, from 1978 to 1991, when they started to figure among the French elite clubs.

The last couple of seasons have not been particularly good for PSG after some financial and administrative issues that the club has been going through. During the season 2006-07 the team finished in the 15th position of the table and in the 2007-08 season, things didn’t got better as they finished in 16th position with 43 points and a record of 10 wins, 15 loses and 13 draws.

Nevertheless, for this season 2008-09, PSG situation seem to be finally settling down again since, until the middle season, they have a very positive record and are located in the top positions of the table.
