Le Mans

Le Mans Union Club 72 was originally formed in 1985. The club had their first promotion to Ligue 1 during the season 2002-03. During that first season at Ligue 1, Le Mans finished in 19th place with 9 wins, 18 loses and 11 draws, and was relegated back to Ligue 2. Nevertheless, the club came back for the season 2005-2006 to Ligue 1 by finishing in 2nd place of Ligue 2 in the season 2004-05.

Le Mans UC 72 has been only five seasons in Ligue 1, including the current 2008-09. During their existence, the biggest win for Le Mans was in 1998-99 season when they beat Valence 6-0 at home.

During last season 2007-08 the team concluded in 9th place of the table of Ligue 1 with a total of 53 points, 14 victories, 13 loses and 11 draws in 38 games. For this season the club suffered a big change, having lost their manager and some of their best players during the summer. But the club has been doing some congregation of new players to reinforce the team.
