Real Racing Club de Santander
Name: Segunda División: |
The club was funded in 1913. In 1929, when the first division of La Liga was established, the Racing entered as the tenth team, but later it descended to Segunda in 1940, after the Spain civil war left them with many problems.
For many years, Racing went up and down between leagues, until the early 1990’s, when the team began to consolidate themselves in the first division, with the exception of the season 2000-01 when they were relegated to the second division for one year.
The Racing had its best season in many years during 2007-08, they finished in the sixth position of the table and earned a spot for the UEFA Cup 2008-09; the first time the team reach this important European competition.
