The Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña was founded in 1906, in Galicia. The Depor was promoted to the first division in 1941 for the first time, even thought it descended again three seasons later and then it kept going back and forth for many years.

The best era of the team started at the beginning of the 1990’s, when it was promoted once again and has remained there since then. During this time, the team has won the Spanish Cup (Copa del Rey) twice, the Spanish Super Cup three times and the Spanish League once.

As well, the Depor has participated 11 times in European competitions, having its best performance in the UEFA Champions League in season 2003-04 when it reached the semifinals.

In the Spanish League, the team finished in the seventh position of the table last season (2008-09).
