The Sevilla FC was created in 1905 and is the oldest football team from Sevilla. During the team’s early days, it dominated the regional competition Copa de Andalucía and until these days, it remains to be the most successful club in the community.
Sevilla entered to the top football division in Spain until 1934 and won its first and only title of La Liga in the 1945-46 season. The team also won the Copa del Rey three times between 1935 and 1948.
During the 1980’s and 1990’s the team had very good performances, even appearing in the UEFA Cup several times. In most recent times, Sevilla managed to win their first UEFA Cup in 2006 (accomplishment that was repeated the following year) and also won the UEFA Super Cup that same year.
In the 2007-08 season the team participated for the first time in their history on the UEFA Champions League and they managed to go all the way until the first knockout round, where they were eliminated by the Turkish team Fenerbahçe.
After a fifth position finish in La Liga table in season 2007-08, the team competed in the UEFA Cup 2008-09, however it was eliminated in the group phase of the competition.
