The Celtic F.C. was created in 1888 in Glasgow, Scotland. The Celtic is the second most successful club in Scotland (only exceeded by the Rangers FC), having dominating the Scottish Elite leagues with 42 championships, the last three of them consecutively from 2006 to 2008.
As well, the Celtic has been very successful in other domestic competitions; they own the record of the most Scottish Cup wins, with 34 since 1892 to 2007 and have also 13 Scottish League Cup titles in their history.
In European competition, by 1967 the Celtic became the very first British team to win the most important tournament, the European Cup, and three years later they reached the final of the tournament once again, but this time they lost to the Dutch team Feyenoord.
Since the European Cup changed its format to the UEFA Champions League, the Celtic has reached the tournament 7 times, including this present season 2008-09. During the previous two seasons, the team got until the Eight Finals of the tournament.
The Celtic is a very popular and followed team in Europe, which can be proved with the nine million fans they have around the world.
