Epsom Derby Cup

This is one of the most recognized flat thoroughbred horse races in the world and one of the five British Classics basically the second race in the English Triple Crown. It takes place every June at the Epsom Downs Racecourse, Epsom, Surrey, England.
The competition was first established in 1780 and the race track has a distance of 1 mile 4 furlongs and 10 yards.
In the early beginnings (1780) the race track’s distance was 1,609 meters or 1 mile, later on it was changed to 2,414 meters or 1 mile 4 furlongs.
