Scheduled: November 30, 2008
The Japan Cup is one of the most prestigious races worldwide as well as in Japan. The race has taken place annually since 1981 during the month of November and it offers a prize money of ¥533 million, about USD 4.6 million.
Despite its short history in the horse racing world the event has had winners from North America, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy and Japan; but up to today no horse has won the race more than one time.
The race was named by the Japan Racing Association as an international invitational event with the purpose to have local horses can compete against horses of international level and excellence.
