Richard Gasquet is a professional tennis player born on June 18, 1986 in Béziers, France. In 2002 by the age of 15 he made his professional debut on the courts at the Tennis Masters Series tournament, in which he defeated Franco Squilliari, winning a tour-level draw match.

That same year he participated at the French Open at Roland Garros and won the Junior World Championship title in France and the United States.

In 2003 he was able to enter the ATP top 100 and the following year he participated in his first ATP tournament final; while being able to win a mixed doubles trophy at the French Open. That same year the ex- professional tennis player Éric Deblicker became his current coach.

During the 2005 Master Series tournament in Monte Carlo he reached the semifinals previously defeating World’s number one Roger Federer in the quarterfinals but lost to Rafael Nadal afterwards. He also made his debut at the Davis Cup.

During the 2006 campaign despite being a tough year for Gasquet he managed to win three titles and kept his number one position in France for the second year.

In 2007 Gasquet participated at the Adelaide’s tournament reaching the semifinals and the fourth round at the Australian Open. He won his fifth ATP title in Mubai and qualified for the Tennis Master Cup while remaining at number eight in the world rankings basically his best ATP ranking during his professional career.
