Vera Zvonareva
Vera Zvonareva began competing in the ITF Circuit in 1999. Only one year later in 2000 she played her first Tier I WTA event.
In 2002 Zvonareva won her second title at an ITF Circuit in Naples, Florida and that same year she got to her first single final at the WTA Tour in Palermo. She also reached the semifinals at Sopot and Warsaw and achieved her first fourth round in a Grand Slam competition at the French Open.
In 2003 Vera finished the season ranked No.13 in the world and by the following season she wins her first mixed doubles U.S Open Grand Slam title. She also got to the finals at Cincinnati and Philadelphia .
In 2006 she and Nathalie Dechy win the U.S Open doubles tournament. During the 2007 campaign she was unable to participate in the clay, grass and most of the hard court events due to constant injuries.
In 2008 Zvonareva moved up to the Indian Wells quarterfinals, the Sony Ericson Open semifinals and the final at the Family Circle Cup but she was defeated by Serena Williams. She also got to the semifinals at the Beijing Olympics.
