Important Facts
- Scandinavians have dominated ever since the Nordic combined made its Olympic debut at the Chamonix Games in 1924.
- The name of the individual event comes from the Gundersen Method, which converts ski jumping points into staggered start times for the cross country part of the event.
- The modern Nordic events are the cross-country races (including a relay race) and ski-jumping events.
- Currently, the Nordic Combined competition is open to men only.
- All the events in Nordic Combined (ski jumping and cross country skiing) have Norwegian roots - some going back over 5,000 years.
- 2007 FIS Nordic World Ski Championship will be held in Sapporo, being this the first time that Championship visits Asia.
