Soccer- Beckham going to AC Milan with a loan move
By Audrey Nolan
The British super star of Los Angeles Galaxy and 33 years-old, David Beckham, will probably be part of the AC Milan for a few months, given some conversations sustained between the two clubs. The deal will probably start in January, after Beckham finishes his obligations with the US team.
The MLS season will be over this weekend for the Galaxy, so the club’s owner is looking into the deal to open and that way the AC Milan can use the experienced footballer for a few months, until the MLS 2009 season begins.
However, there have been some arguments in the media about David going to be traded to the AC Milan for the next season and about that everything was set up between the two clubs; but those were only untrue rumors since, if the deal is approved, Beckham will be playing just for some months until the MLS starts again.
Moreover, apparently Beckham is very pleased with the possibility of playing even if it is just for some months because playing again in Europe is something that he has been thinking for quite some time now. His main reasons for wanting this trade are to have good preparation and keep himself in good shape for the matches as well as stay active so his national team coach could continue calling him to play for the England National team for the World Cup qualifying rounds.
Beckham has a five year contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy and his participation with the team has not been what it was expected because even with his contribution, the team wasn’t able to reach the playoffs this year. And since the season is already over for them, Beckham and his agent looked up for an alternative so that he doesn’t loose his fitness and conditioning. Consequently, Beckham looked up into AC Milan as an opportunity, especially because it’s a very competitive club and he wants to prove to his fans and the first division clubs that he’s still a great player and a world-class footballer.
Milan vice president Adriano Galliani and Milan’s manager Carlo Ancelotti are both very satisfied with the possibility of trading Beckham to the team for some time this season. He would be starting his training with Milan in January. This is not the first intention of Beckham moving to the Italian club. In 2007, before signing up the actual contract with the Galaxy, he and his agent had some conversations with the team’s representatives but nothing came up.
This is also like a blessing for Milan’s head coach. Ancelotti explained that he will bring only good things to the team. ''For me it will be a pleasure, Beckham is a serious athlete, a great professional. If he is available for four months with us, we will be very happy.''
Beckham started his professional football career with the Manchester United in 1992 and played with the reserve team for quite a while. Then in 1994 he made his debut on the UEFA Cup and his Premier League debut came in 1995. He played with the Manchester United until 2003 and then he was sold to the Real Madrid team for a four year contract. He played with them for 4 years and accomplished a set of titles and experience. By 2007 his contract was not renewed by the Real Madrid and after various conversations with different clubs he signed up a 5 year multi millionaire contract with the LA Galaxy.
Even though Beckham is not going to be able to be part of the Milan squad until January 1st, the fans and the whole team will be very anxious to see him play again in a European stage and hopefully be witness of his great ability and talent.
