Indian Premier League Cricket Teams

Indian Premier League of Cricket is going to witness eight IPL teams in the inaugural tournament. Eight teams from Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Jaipur, Punjab, Bengaluru (erstwhile Bangalore), Delhi and Hyderabad represent each city in the IPL. The teams are managed under franchise system. The teams were put for auction and the highest bidders own the team. The teams will be owned by the respective owners for a period of 10 years.
Mumbai IPL team named as Mumbai Indians is owned by the Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Limited. They got it with a fascinating bid of $111.9 million. The team is captained by the 'Master Batsman', Sachin Tendulkar, who is named as one of the iconic player of the IPL. The team includes stars players like Sanath Jayasuriya, Shaun Pollock and many local boys of the Mumbai cricket circuit. Former Team India Manager, Lalchand Rajput will act as the coach of the team.
The Bollywood cine star Shahrukh khan (SRK), dubbed 'King Khan' owns the Kolkata team named as Kolkata Knight Riders. He with actress Juhi Chawla and her husband won the bid for $75.09 million. The 'Prince of Kolkata', Sourav Ganguly is the captain of IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. Former Australian Player John Buchanan will coach the team.
The Indian Cements Limited won the bid for the Chennai team called as Chennai Super Kings for $91 million. The skipper of the Indian Cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the Captain for the IPL team Chennai Super Kings. Surprisingly, he was the one to get the highest individual bid amount for US$ 15 Million. Muttiah Muralitharan and Stephen Fleming are the other cricketing stars present the Chennai team. Kepler Wessels, the former South African skipper is the coach of the team.
The IPL team Bangalore Royal Challengers representing the Bangalore city is owned by Vijay Mallya's UB Group for $111.6 million who had a tight competition for the Mumbai IPL team. The 'Indian Wall' Rahul Dravid captains the Bangalore team. Jacques Kallis, Mark Boucher, Misbah-ul-Haq are the other star players in the Bangalore team. The Indian team bowling Coach Venkatash Prasad is the coach for the Bangalore Royal Challengers.
One another Bollywood cine star, Preity Zinta along with Karan Paul and industrialist Mohit Burman own the Mohali (Punjab) cricket team named as Kings Punjab for $76 million. Yuvaraj Singh, one among the iconic players of the IPL team is the captain of the Mohali team. Mahela Jayawardene, Brett Lee and Ramnaresh Sarwan are the few star players present in the Mohali team. The team is coached by Tom Moody former Australian Cricketer.
The Deccan Chargers representing Hyderabad IPL team was bought by Deccan Chronicle Group for $107 million. The elegant stroke player of the Indian team VVS Laxman is the captain of the Deccan Chargers. The Hyderabad team is identified as one of the favorites with star players like Adam Gilchrist, Symonds, Gibbs, Chaminda Vaas and Shahid Afridi. The Indian fielding coach Robin Singh is the coach for the Hyderabad team.
Delhi Dare Devils representing Delhi IPL team is owned by GMR Holdings for $84 million. Virender Sehwag is the captain of the Delhi team, and is also an 'Iconic player' of the IPL cricket. Other star players of the Delhi team are Glenn McGrath and Daniel Vettori. Greg Sheppard, the former Australian cricketer is the coach of the Delhi team.
An UK based company Emerging bought the Rajasthan Royals representing Rajasthan for a lowest bid amount of $67 million. The Rajasthan IPL team is captained by the celebrated spinner Shane Warne. Shane Watson, Younis Khan are the few star players in the Rajasthan team. Shane Warne will also act as the coach of the Rajasthan team.
